History of Hope

Pastor Barclay and his family moved to Loveland in the spring of 2011. Their summer was filled with preparation, canvasing, and great excitement as they prepared for the inaugural service of Hope Baptist Church. On September 11, 2011, Hope held its first service with many from Loveland and the surrounding area in attendance. At our second Sunday service, we had 33 in attendance—a core church family had already begun to be established, and God was blessing.

Through God's provision, we celebrated our first service in a new, 2,500 square foot facility located in the Outlets At Loveland on November 20, 2011. By December we were averaging 47 on Sunday mornings, with a record attendance of 57 on Christmas Day, 2011.

Hope Baptist Church chartered with 38 members on March 4, 2012 with a record crowd of 76 joining us that day. It was a tremendous blessing to see this family commit to each other and to God our firm desire to reach Loveland and the world with the Gospel for the glory of God. During 2012, we grew from an average of 56 in January to an average of 93 in December, with a high attendance of 103 during early fall.

As we continued to grow, the need for a larger sanctuary and several more classrooms became apparent. We were able to increase our facility to 5,000 square feet, allowing for more specialized instruction and discipleship as we continued to expand the ministries that Hope Baptist Church was able to provide. We completed this expansion in November of 2013. On the very first Sunday in our new auditorium, we set another attendance record of 111.

During the first part of 2014, we were able to hire a part time secretary and two full-time, one-year interns. During the summer of 2014, we hit another attendance record of 139. Nearing the end of 2014, God led Pastor Barclay into a two year mission to “Build the House” from Haggai 1:8. “Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.” During this project, we finished an expansion bringing our facilities to 9,000 square feet, including a 180-seat auditorium, first-class nursery care facilities, and six new classrooms. In 2015, Pastor Barclay presented a strong emphasis on leadership development. In 2016, with a strong emphasis on outreach, our average weekend attendance rose to 138 with a record day of 189. Beginning May 7, 2017, Hope Baptist Church launched a second Sunday morning worship service. Hope now has a worship service at 9 and 10:30 AM.

In June of 2018 Pastor Barclay was led by the Lord to leave Hope Baptist Church to create a Master's Degree Program in Bible Translation at First Baptist Church in Milford, OH.

After much prayer and consideration the Lord led Pastor Dan Outler to Hope Baptist Church in October of 2018. Prior to coming to Hope, Pastor Outler had worked on the pastoral staff at North Love Baptist Church in Rockford, IL for 35 years.

The Lord has continued to grow Hope Baptist Church and we entered into another building expansion project in the beginning of 2020, expanding our facilities from 9,000 square feet to 11,000 square feet, adding much needed additional space to our auditorium.

We can’t wait to see what God does as we step forward by faith, continuing to “build the house” in the future.
