Pastoral Families

Edward & April

Pastor Edward, trusted Jesus as his personal Saviour at the age of five while his family was attending Faith Baptist Church in Fairless Hills, PA. His family moved to Milford, Ohio in 1990 where they attended the First Baptist Church of Milford. This church produced in his heart the desire to serve the Lord with his life. As a young person, he surrendered his life to full-time Christian service.

In 1998, on a mission trip to South Africa with the late missionary Bob Hayes, God began to burden his heart about pastoring. He surrendered to this call and attended Tennessee Temple University where he could better observe and learn from great men like Dr. Lee Roberson. While attending TTU, he was involved in serving in a small, evangelistic church where he directed the children’s and youth ministries for two years. It was also during this time that Edward met his wife April. They were married in 2003 and now have four children.

In 2004, the Lord led Edward back to his home church, First Baptist Church of Milford, Ohio, under the leadership of Pastor Bill Duttry, where he began serving both on the church staff and with Master Clubs. For the church, he directed the Jr. High youth department, grew a bus route, taught adult Sunday school classes, and directed the children’s ministries. For Master Clubs, he wrote curriculum, trained leaders, and designed publications.

While serving in Milford, God began to reveal His next step of faith for Edward's life—planting a church. After great anticipation and much preparation, God brought the Barclay family to Loveland in May of 2011. Pastor's life verse is Psalm 145:12, "To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom." Edward loves Colorado, a good cup of coffee, Italian food, Ohio State football, wood-working, and spending time with his family.

Brad & Katie Magnus

Brad & Katie Magnus

An east-coast, New-Jersey native, Brad Magnus graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2009. Brad and Katie were married in 2011 and served together in the youth ministry for three years before moving to Colorado.

At first Hope was just a place for Brad and Katie to find hope and biblical renewal. But as they began to grow, God opened the door for a ministry opportunity at Hope. Brad began serving Hope Baptist Church in 2014, and in 2015, Brad became the Associate Pastor. He loves being the second man and serving any and all who come to Hope.

Recently the Lord has opened the door for Brad and Katie to become foster parents. With 400,000 children in the Foster system, Brad and Katie felt a great need to make a difference in some children's lives. In a broken world, the only healing that truly lasts is the love of Christ. Brad and Katie seek to provide not only a healthy home and loving hearts, but also the spiritual nurturing for every child the Lord leads into their home whether permanent or for a matter of days. "Forbid them not to come unto me."

Brad's enjoys wood-working, reading, spending time with family and friends, and music.

Nathan & Alicia

Nathan grew up in a Christian home in Brooklyn, New York. As a young boy he felt the Lord calling him to full-time ministry, specifically in the area of missions. After graduating high school he went to West Coast Baptist College to get bachelor’s degrees in pastoral and missions studies with a minor in apologetics. He met his wife Alicia at college and after graduation in 2015 they married and served on staff at WCBC for two years. During that time, Nathan taught in the Bible department and earned a master’s degree from Southern California Seminary. Both summers while working for West Coast, they visited many churches while chaperoning singing ministry teams. In May of 2016, they had a meeting at Hope Baptist Church. Nathan and Alicia both enjoyed the meeting very much and knew there was something special about Hope. Little did they know, God would lead them back to this church the following year. While Nathan and Alicia serve in their roles at Hope Baptist Church, they are continuing to plan and prepare for their future in missions. Burdened to reach the unreached, they are continuing to learn and grow in every area of their lives allowing the Lord to go before them. Nathan enjoys apologetics, wood working, and adventures outdoors.
