Daily Thought for 08-20-2026

The gospel of Jesus Christ can be simply stated as the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ; so says 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. For one to believe that Jesus actually died and then came back to life three days later is foundational to being saved. The gospel is a truth that is so simple in its essence, and yet, so complex in its fullness, only eternity will explore the extent of its riches.

The book of Hebrews teaches us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is that catalyst that activates the spiritual world of the believer. Because of God’s grace, faith makes it possible for sinful man to come to Jesus and have his sins forgiven and be saved. Faith is the first step one must take to be forgiven.

For too many, that first step of saving faith is their only step. Yes, they believe on Jesus and get saved, but they never again apply faith to the rest of their lives. Paul made a powerful statement in…

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

We learn in Romans and elsewhere that faith accesses the righteousness of God. As we come to Christ and confess our sins, trusting Him to forgive us and save us, we are made righteous before Him. All our sins, past, present, and future are forgiven, and we stand holy before our God. Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross; the shedding of His sinless blood, paid in full the debt caused by our sin. The wonderful freedom that we enjoy from sin’s penalty is because God chose to honor our faith.

Once we exercise faith for salvation, we enter a life where faith must continue to be exercised until we die. It was faith that saved us, because God cannot be pleased any other way; and it is faith that continues to please God. Our text speaks of our righteousness being revealed from faith to faith.

In other words, that which accessed the righteousness of God, our faith, must continue for His righteousness to continue being revealed in and through us; or, ‘from faith to faith.’
We might say we go from saving faith to ‘living faith.’

Our lives before God must be such that we daily entrust ourselves into His care. We can trust our Heavenly Father to care for us, and lead us confidently if we will but believe Him. The cares that come will bring with them fears and worries, but the more we give them one by one over to the Lord, the more His grace will envelop those cares with His grace.

The just, or those who by faith have been saved, and have chosen to live for Christ, shall do so by faith. As we do, we will reveal the righteousness of God to the world.
